    The tourist paradise known as "The first Holiday Region in the Zillertal" with its popular winter sport venues Fügen/Hochfügen and Kaltenbach is situated at the mouth of the Zillertal Valley, "The Most Active Valley of the World".     Fantastic slopes way above the tree line with exhilarating runs. Revel in the snow-sure surroundings and maybe follow in the trail of local hero and Olympic Gold Medalist, Stephan Eberharter, the world famous skier after whom one of the runs has been named. Take a welcome breakt at any one of the many romantic ski huts or inviting guest houses in and around the slopes. The choice of winter sports activities is enormous and includes 70 km of cross-country ski trails, numerous well cleared winter walkways, sleigh rides through the magical winter wonderland,as well as various ice skating rinks.

    Summer Health and Mountain Sport

    All those who care for fresh mountain air and Alpine sports take to the Zillertal and get inspired by the valley's scenic beauty and exhilarating experience. The most easily accessible Tyrolean valley boasts over 1,000 km of hiking trails as well as 850 km of biking routes. Expeditions into the mountains are a feast for the senses, body, and soul. In sunny forests, around the streams, you can enjoy the sounds of nature. The smell of leaves, bushes, and plants influences your state of mind and lets you forget your daily routine. Optionally you can choose from many guided mountain and hiking tours. Programs like "Gentle Running" and "Nordic Walking" are accompanied by trainers who supervise you.

    The twelve villages of the First Holiday Region offer not only mountain adventures, but also a wide range of activities down in the valley: outdoor and indoor swimming pools, swimming lakes, tennis, beach volleyball, fitness, mini golf, an archery range, and a golf court ... not to mention climbing in the  Adventure Park Zillertal, paragliding, hang-gliding, and rafting.

    Children up to 15 years can use the Spieljochbahn lift in Fügen free of charge during the summer months. The lift takes you to the starting point of a great number of hiking routes around the Spieljoch, where you can enjoy unforgettable panoramic views. After a walk of about 30 minutes, you reach the highest Austrian ore mine. Upon entering you feel sent back in time several centuries to the age of ore mining.
